As the Bayeux Tapestry returns to Britain, a modern-day textile epic has arrived in Dorset. The Longest Yarn 2: Britain at War will be on show for visitors during peak summer holidays, from 1 July – 24 August 2026.
Visitors can see this remarkable collection of knitted World War II scenes that tell the story of wartime Britain through recreating famous photographs. Each panel has been lovingly created by talented makers through thousands of hours of skilled craftsmanship, combining creativity, heritage, and community spirit into a visually captivating exhibition.
Perfect for art lovers, history enthusiasts, and curious minds alike, this exhibition highlights the power of craft to bring history to life in an engaging way.
Nothe Fort Events and Marketing Coordinator, Connie Jenkins-Teague said:
“We’re thrilled to be extending The Longest Yarn 2 exhibition. The scale is so impressive, it’s an incredibly popular attraction, so we recommend booking your tickets in advance to skip the queues! The exhibition trail includes our WW2 exhibits, and encourages you to look even more closely at the incredible detail in every piece.”
Adding to the excitement, families can now take part in a brand-new Knitted Mouse Hunt, a playful scavenger hunt where visitors spot knitted mice around the Fort, generously made by local crafters.
