The South West of the UK is known for its scenic coastline, lush greenery, and rich culinary heritage. A recent NESCAFÉ survey reveals just how these natural elements influence the region’s favourite aromas and tastes. From comforting scents to indulgent flavours, the survey offers a delightful snapshot of what locals love most.
Topping the list of favourite scents in the South West is the refreshing ocean breeze, a nod to the region’s close ties with the sea. Coming in second are the natural fragrances of flowers and freshly cut grass and the comforting smell of freshly washed clothes rounds off the top three.
When it comes to food and drink-related scents, the South West locals are drawn to warm, inviting aromas. The smell of freshly baked goods leads the pack, followed closely by the rich, robust scent of coffee – both comforting favourites that conjure up feelings of cosiness. Lavender, with its calming, fragrant appeal, also nears the top of the list.
As for flavours, the South West has a distinct preference for indulgence. Chocolate, the ultimate sweet treat, ranks as the most popular flavour, with caramel and cheesy flavours coming in hot on its heels. These choices reflect the region’s love for rich, satisfying tastes that offer comfort and enjoyment.
“Our survey highlights the UK’s deep affection for sweet sensations, with vanilla emerging as a top aroma, particularly in regions like Greater London and the West Midlands” says Ingrid Hayes, Marketing Director of NESCAFÉ Soluble Coffee.
“We’re thrilled to introduce our new NESCAFÉ Gold Blend flavours – vanilla and caramel. These additions to the Gold Blend range not only enhance the sensory experience but also provide a comforting and indulgent option for coffee lovers. They are designed to delight British taste buds and evoke the cherished memories and emotions that only great flavours can.”
The NESCAFÉ survey reveals how the South West’s sensory preferences echo broader trends across the UK, where indulgent flavours and comforting scents continue to hold a special place in the hearts of many.
