Following its successful inaugural Christmas Fayre, Swindon-based medical device company Vygon UK has raised an impressive £2,000 in support of two local charities.
The company, headquartered in the iconic Pierre Simonet Building, opened its doors to the Swindon community for an evening of festive fun on 5 December. The event, which featured stalls from over 50 local businesses and vendors, welcomed over 150 attendees whose generous support has allowed Vygon UK to donate £1,000 each to Threshold, and Age UK Wiltshire.
Commenting on the donation, Ben Harman, CEO of Threshold, said: “We were delighted to be chosen as one of the charities supported by the first ever Vygon Christmas Fayre. As well as enjoying the array of stalls and festive treats, Vygon’s support and generous donation will ensure we can continue to provide a safe place to live and personalised support to people who are homeless.”
His sentiments were echoed by Kate Brooks, Operations Manager for Age UK Wiltshire and Age UK Southampton: “We just want to say thank you so much for organising an excellent Christmas Fayre. It was a great event, and I enjoyed talking to lots of people about how we support older people in Swindon. It was also a great opportunity to get some Christmas shopping done! We are so grateful for Vygon’s support.”
Throughout the year, Vygon also embraced other opportunities to give back. The company made donations to two local organisations dedicated to sport and the arts – Swindon & District Community Football League and 2Step Dance Academy – and raised funds for PINNT and Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) at professional events in Southampton and Stirling, respectively.
“At Vygon we are committed to making a meaningful impact and contributing positively to our community. Hosting a Christmas Fayre felt like a wonderful opportunity to spread some festive cheer and support vital community services,” says Katie Kingston, Head of Marketing and Communications at Vygon UK.
“The response from the community was incredible, and the generosity of everyone who attended has allowed us to extend our efforts to two remarkable charities, Threshold and Age UK Wiltshire, who work tirelessly to assist the homeless, elderly, and vulnerable.
“Looking ahead to 2025, we are excited to deepen our engagement with local charities and groups. By sharing not only our resources, but also our time and energy, we hope to strengthen the bonds within our community and make a lasting difference in the lives of those who need it most.”
