Jobs boost as Shared Prosperity Fund invests in new robotic technology to help clean up rivers and seas

ELIQUO HYDROK

ELIQUO HYDROK a Cornwall-based company at the forefront of water treatment solutions that help clean up rivers and seas and improve the natural environment across the UK and Europe, has received investment from the Shared Prosperity Fund to meet significant growing demand for their innovative products.

ELIQUO HYDROK has been awarded £598,500 towards investment in robotic welding machinery at their headquarters in Indian Queens, near Newquay.

The addition of the new advanced robotic welding machinery will require highly skilled technical robotic programming roles, while the company also plan to grow their existing apprenticeship programme to train apprentices in these new technology skills.

Peter Wroe, Managing Director and CFO, said:

“ELIQUO HYDROK has always had a strong manufacturing presence in Cornwall serving the UK and Europe. We are proud to employ and train skilled local people and contribute to the local economy and community.

“UK municipal water companies have an urgent and growing need for industrial products to meet their environmental regulatory requirements. This new robotic machinery will allow us to increase our capacity to deliver products that improve the natural environment, and also offer advanced technical roles to Cornish people.

“We believe this to be  one of the largest bespoke robot installations in the UK and further enhances Cornwall’s manufacturing productivity and skill base.”

Louis Gardner, Cornwall Council cabinet portfolio holder for economy, said:

“Investing Shared Prosperity Funding to develop and encourage growth in innovative businesses like Eliquo Hydrok brings forward the creation of well-paid jobs for our residents, and helps boost Cornwall’s economy.

“It will also support a proactive approach to understanding and improving how cutting-edge technology can help clean up rivers and seas across the UK and Europe – an ambition which is close to the hearts of all of us who live in Cornwall where our beaches and waterways are so important.”

ELIQUO HYDROK design, manufacture and install water treatment technology that improves the natural environment across Cornwall, the UK and Europe. With water companies in the UK currently facing increasing pressure to meet environmental regulatory requirements, this project will further enable ELIQUO HYDROK to meet this demand. This includes solutions such as filtration tanks to remove harmful chemicals from wastewater, and installation of Combined Sewer Overflow screens to reduce environmental harm to rivers and seas during periods of heavy rain.

This project has received £598,500 from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund as part of the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Good Growth’s Strategic Enterprise and Research and Development Infrastructure programme.
