Newquay Park and Ride will be back this summer with an improved service to help cut down on congestion in the town centre.

Based on land on the A392 opposite Hendra Holiday Park, the service will start on Saturday 22 July. Buses will run around every 20 mins from 8.14am until late on weekdays and Saturdays, and every half an hour from 9.15am to 6.15pm on Sundays.

Connor Donnithorne, Cornwall Council cabinet portfolio holder for transport, said:

“As residents we all know the pressures on the roads in Newquay during the summer season as the population swells significantly. The park and ride means we can provide a regular, reliable service to keep traffic out of the town centre and cut down on congestion.

“We’ve listened to feedback from last summer and this year have a new site which can take around 350 vehicles – double the capacity of last year. We’ve also introduced an earlier start time to help people working in the town centre and put on extra buses to run regular services throughout the day.”

Mark Watson from Newquay BID said:

“The park and ride is welcomed by businesses and locals as it not only reduces the cars and congestion into the centre of Newquay but also makes travel into Newquay over our busiest period easier and affordable. I hope to see this service expand in the future as Newquay’s popularity grows beyond the peak summer season.”

James Church from Go Cornwall Bus said:

“We are delighted to be working in partnership with Cornwall Council and Newquay Town Council to deliver Newquay Park and Ride for 2023. We would encourage all car users where possible to make use of the site and help not only reduce the congestion in the town but to also improve the air quality during the summer holidays.

“The timetable operates seven days a week and fares can be bought from the driver or the Go Cornwall App.”
