DriveTribe’s sell-out inaugural car meet event a roaring success

  • Haynes Motor Museum in Somerset was the venue for DriveTribe’s first car meet event on 15 October
  • Attended by over 1,500 people, the event sold out in just 24 hours
  • VIP guests, vehicle exhibitions and a Go Karting time trial were among the event’s main attractions

VIP guests, vehicle exhibitions and even a Go Karting competition with none other than The Stig featured at DriveTribe’s maiden car meet event, staged on Sunday 15 October, at the prestigious Haynes Motor Museum, Somerset.

DriveTribe Founder and Creative Director, Richard Hammond, was joined for a Q&A session by a star-studded line-up of special guests from the worlds of TV and YouTube, including racing driver Jimmy Broadbent, social media personalities Mat Armstrong and Alex Kersten, as well as Abigayle André, better known as ‘She Talks Cars’.

The event, which sold out in just 24 hours, was attended by over 1,500 automotive enthusiasts. Many of whom put forward their vehicles for a ‘show and shine competition’, which saw Hammond and the DriveTribe team hand pick a Ford Escort RS Turbo, as victor.

During the event, drivers could test their skills against Ben Collins, formerly known as The Stig, in a time-trial Go-Kart race.

Attendees also vied among each other, and Ben Collins, who played the character of the The Stig in BBC’s Top Gear between 2003 and 2010, in a Go Kart time trial competition.

An eclectic exhibition of cars of today and yesteryear were also paraded at the event, including an Audi Quattro which took home the coveted ‘Car of the Show’ award.

Richard Hammond and the team awarded this Ford Escort RS Turbo first place in the ‘Show and Shine’ competition.

The event comes in the wake of DriveTribe’s recent acquisition of specialist video production agency Centric Creative, as part of a rebrand as an automotive content production and distribution house.

An Audi Quattro picked up the coveted ‘Car of the Show’ Award.
