New Diagnostic Scan Services Launch In Yeovil To Improve Access For Somerset Patients

Vista Health, a leading UK private diagnostics provider, has launched diagnostic imaging services in Yeovil to improve access to tests and scans for patients across Somerset and the surrounding areas.

Delivered at Yeovil Diagnostic Centre and located next to Yeovil District Hospital, the new services have launched in response to rising demand for diagnostic testing and increasing numbers of people seeking earlier reassurance about their health. Using state-of-the-art imaging technology, the centre aims to make high-quality scans quicker and more accessible for patients

New data from Vista Health has found over the past five years, more people have turned online to find faster access to diagnostic testing:

  • 150% increase in online searches for ‘private MRI scan’
  • 140% increase in online searches for ‘private CT scan near me’
  • 100% increase in online searches for ‘diagnostic healthcare near me’

Alongside this, a Vista Health survey of 2,000 middle-aged Brits found many people are recognising potential health warning signs but still delaying action. While over three quarters (77%) reported experiencing recurring symptoms such as sleep problems, joint pain and persistent fatigue, more than half (54%) admitted ignoring symptoms for an average of 14 months.

A lack of clarity around when to seek medical advice is often the key reason for delays, with 76% unsure which symptoms were serious enough to investigate and 41% admitting they avoided seeking help because they “didn’t want to make a fuss”.

With more people seeking reassurance but delaying checks, fast access to diagnostics is becoming increasingly important. Community diagnostic centres like those in Yeovil aim to improve the availability of scans locally and help reduce waiting times.

Located next to Yeovil District Hospital, the new centre will make it easier for patients across Somerset to access diagnostic testing closer to home, whilst supporting existing NHS services.

The Trust’s independent sector partner, InHealth (the UK’s largest specialist provider of diagnostic and healthcare solutions) will provide NHS endoscopy and imaging at the site. Vista Health, part of the InHealth Group, will also see private and self-referring patients, offering another route to fast and affordable diagnostic testing while supporting local NHS capacity.

The InHealth Group has worked with the NHS for more than 30 years and has invested over £5 million in the development of the Yeovil Diagnostic Centre.

Steve Martin, Managing Director at Vista Health shares:

“The launch of our services in Yeovil reflects our continued investment in expanding access to high-quality diagnostic services within local communities.

We’re seeing growing demand for diagnostic services from both NHS and self-pay patients, and facilities like this help ensure people can access the care they need in a timely and convenient way, closer to home.

By working alongside NHS services and investing in modern, community-based diagnostic infrastructure, we can support more efficient patient pathways while maintaining the high standards of quality and experience patients expect.

As the fifth imaging centre, we’ve opened in the South West Yeovil Diagnostic Centre marks another important step in expanding local diagnostic infrastructure and improving access to care for patients across Somerset.”
