How has Forex continued to develop and improve?

Forex has evolved hugely in recent decades. Enhanced technology and improved accessibility have meant that more and more people are tapping into Forex markets in a bid to get healthy sums of money in return. More trades are being executed than ever before – and at higher values.

Whether you’re a seasoned trader or you’re looking to get started, Forex is something that interests many individuals. But how did we get to where we’re at today? Let’s take a look at how Forex has changed with the times.

About Forex

Forex is one of the largest trading markets available. It has grown in value and size, with the daily global volume increasing by seven times its value from 2001, according to Statista. Interestingly, the Forex daily volume was nearly $6 billion for the USD currency, which is three times higher than for the euro (EUR).

There are several reasons why its popularity has increased so drastically over the years.

Increasing popularity

In the past, investing and trading was something only a select few engaged in, however today, it’s a very different story.

The growth of Fintech has meant that financial products are more accessible than ever before. The digitisation of Forex has been huge. It’s helped to make markets more accessible with well-laid-out trading platforms and helpful functions designed with the trader in mind. People can execute endless trades in a matter of clicks from the comfort of their own homes.

Sophisticated tools and analysis functions can be applied to enhance the user experience. A key reason behind transitioning to digital platforms has been to attract and retain more investors and traders.

Technological developments have also meant that significantly more tradable assets are available than ever before. Traders can execute and handle multiple trades with ease. The evolution of cross-border payments has contributed to the popularity of Forex markets in recent years.

Something to note is that with the increasing popularity of Forex comes a need for diligence regarding scams, where people are purposely trying to trick others with illegitimate Forex schemes.

The future of Forex

Access to Forex markets has come a long way, but what does the future hold? While technology has increased the overall number of trades and the value traded each day, the introduction of AI is set to boost this further.

Though of course there is an element of caution regarding how AI is used, that’s not to say that it can’t be applied to improve the investor or trader experience. It has already been utilised to help create useful tools, however the possibilities are endless. Watch this space.
